49er United Soccer tryouts begin Friday Tryouts for the 49er United Soccer Club’s competitive boys and girls teams from U9 through U14 will be held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Railhead Park in Auburn. Players interested in trying out must register on-line at 49erunitedsoccer.com. A complete schedule of tryout times per age group is also available on the club’s website. Tryouts for teams in age groups for players U15 through U19 will be held April 13-14 and 15. For more information, call Dennis Wingate at 212-0049.
SFLL seeking managers and coaches The Sierra Foothills Little League is still taking applications for mangers and coaches for the 2012 season. Interested persons can get more information by contacting Sean Patrick at coachDir@SierraFoothillsLLB.com. In other SFLL news, a SFLL board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Colfax Pizza Factory.
Freestyle wrestling sign-ups Sign-ups for the Colfax Freestyle Wrestling program will be taken at the start of team practice on March 1. Practices will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays in the small gym at Colfax High. Sign-ups will also continue through the first two weeks of practice. Cost for the program is $85, which includes a USA Wrestling Card and insurance, team shirt, shorts, awards and team party. CHS youth baseball clinic, alumni game The Colfax High baseball Little League clinic will be held at Colfax High from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3. If rained out, the event will move to the following Saturday, March 10. In other Colfax High baseball news, the school’s Alumni Game is slated for Saturday, April 7, starting at 11 a.m. A barbecue will follow the game for players and families. Alumni interested in playing can call CHS baseball coach Mike McCabe at 575-8357 or Tim Day at 368-1096.
