Thunder Valley Casino interviewing for more than 600 jobs
Lincoln — With the hotel and casino expansion on track to open in July 2010, Thunder Valley Casino and Resort is now taking applications for more than 600 new jobs. Applicants can go to www.thundervalleyresort.com and click on Careers to apply. There will be opportunities in most departments at the resort. Nearly 200 of the new positions will be in the hotel and spa, and another 400 positions will be in the area of casino operations. Interviews begin this month and continue into April. According to a press release, Thunder Valley hopes to complete the initial phase of hiring by May 15. “We are incredibly excited to be able to create over 600 new jobs for the local community,” said Jessica Tavares, chairwoman of the United Auburn Indian Community. “At a time when there is so much bad news about the economy, we believe our new hotel, spa and expanded casino will continue to be an economic engine for this region.” Available positions range from entry level to managerial. Positions will be both hourly and salaried with shifts available 24 hours a day. Over half of the new positions will be full-time, which will include dental, vision and health benefits, as well as paid time off. The part-time positions will also qualify for paid time off and all team members over 21 years of age are eligible to participate in Thunder Valley’s 401K plan. To see the list of available positions and submit an application, go to www.thundervalleyresort.com and click on careers.

Thank you Jessica. You are a true asset to Placer County. Thank you for your courage in fighting through all the folks that didn't want a casino in Placer County.
hey! here are jobs for all those teachers gettin' laid off. yeah.
True Asset to Placer County? Why? Thunder Valley is a pit....Disingenuous to say that they are truly excited about creating jobs for Placer County, they are excited about expansion and making more money. Don't get me wrong, I gamble and enjoy it however Thunder Valley doesn't do anything postive for South Placer county.
bamaxplant - are you kidding? education is out. gambling is in. get with it! c'mon, you need to catch up with the times. it's all about risking a little to make a lot. never mind about concepts like "citizenship" or the "greater good". what are you, some kind of commie?
bamaxsplant... You are misinformed about the good of Thunder Valley. I do not know of all the grants it has provided, but they do a lot to support the local non-profits in the area. They also support many of the Arts and Cultural events going on throughout the year in Placer County and surrounding areas. Now they just announce an increase of 600 jobs, and you complain??? Evidentually you are employed and do not need a job; but there are many more that 600 out there that think this will be a blessing to be able to work again. I wonder what the total of applicants will be for these jobs. I think these people will think that this expansion and the jobs are POSITIVE.
Bamaxsplant, economics 101 will explain what a blessing 600 jobs will do to our local economy.
Go back Alabama.
I doubt he's from bama. If so he'd be excited about he new jobs. Anyone who's been to bama can testify to how poor he area is.
JonGreen - ain't happening, you need me here. Mustang Ranch added jobs in Nevada, you for that too?
HarleyRider - Casinos in Biloxi did nothing to add sustainable industry to South Alabama or Mississippi....didn't make the situation worse but would have been consistent with opening 500 Waffle Houses up and down I-10. Roll Tide.
Alright, I get the point and agree that 600 jobs is better than nothing.....My beef - and frustration - is that the state needs to be more business friendly. Adding 200 jobs at HP or Intel - as part of a strategic state partnership - is more commendable than something cooking at Thunder Valley....I laid off 25 engineers, and expect more through Q4, due to the downturn AND situation in the state. Adding jobs at Thunder Valley is not a launching pad for an individual and folks need to understand that.....
Prostitution is legal in some parts of Nevada. Adding jobs at Thunder Valley will improve the economy of Placer County and create more revenue for all businesses. An organization that adds 600 jobs will also be adding higher paying jobs and it could be a launching pad for an individual. Hotel and Resort management pays quite well.
