Girls soccer wins tourney
The Colfax High girls soccer team picked a good way to open its 2010 season. Playing in last weekend’s Cal Spring Classic in Woodland, the Lady Falcons posted four straight shutouts to win their flight in the tourney for the second straight year. The Lady Falcons opened the tournament on Friday by besting Pioneer of Woodland, 1-0, and Laguna Creek, 7-0. Coach Steve Robinson’s booters then topped River City, 4-0, before posting a big 1-0 win in the finals over Woodcreek of the Sierra Foothill League. Top efforts in the tourney were turned in by Kelli Johnston, Hailey Davidson, Iona Lofrano and French exchange student Mathilde Bosgiraud on offense and by goalie Beka Bolger.
