Frosh girls win PVL
The Colfax High girls frosh basketball team put the lid on a Pioneer Valley League championship last week by fashioning season ending wins over Placer and Lincoln. The two victories left the Kristen Swain-coached Lady Falcons with a perfect 8-0 PVL record and a fine overall season mark of 15-7. “We had a great season because of all the hard work, the hustle and the great attitude the girls had, “ said Swain. “We had to practice in the morning before school and we always had everyone there. They were a joy to coach this season.” In Colfax’s 36-29 win over Placer, Kaila Tremoureux’ 11 points, six from Danielle Hicks and five each from Amber Tobiasz and Laurel Robinson led the win. Colfax defeated Lincoln by a 34-29 count as Tremourex scored 12 points and Tobiasz added 10. Earlier, Colfax had set up its final week of league play with a 31-8 romp over El Dorado. Swain noted that others turning in fine all-around efforts this season included Delany Shinn, Ashley Wallington, Katy Thomas, Sydney Bonino and Sarah Fahrney.
