Tech Junction Cafe offers Internet, computer help
Tech Junction Café has found a new home in Colfax. Originally set up on Main Street, the business has moved to the Colfax Professional Building at 233 So. Auburn St., Suite 120. “This (site) has been just great,” said Kathy Talso, who is managing the office. And to celebrate their new home, the Tech Junction staff is hosting a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The café is the brainchild of Devin Koch, owner of Foothill.net, a broadband and dial up service provider for the past 17 years and Exwire, which started out offering broadband service to the Tahoe region. “We discovered such a need for computer repairs in the foothills,” said Talso, who is a Colfax High School graduate. “And folks needed to have their computers fixed at decent prices.” In fact, residents can drop by during the grand opening and set up an appointment for a free computer diagnostic, she continued. Staff will be on hand to offer diagnostic and repair work as well as network assistance. They can also answer questions about the functions of computers, Talso said. “Don’t hesitate to ask,” she continued. “The questions that aren’t asked are dumb questions, especially when it comes to computers.” Residents can bring in their laptop computers to connect with the café’s complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. There are also four computers available for public use on site. Cost is $1 for 15 minutes, Talso said. Bucks BBQ, a catering service in Weimar, is selling pre-packaged sandwiches, soups, chips, baked goods, sodas, coffee and hot chocolate. Tech Junction will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, call 820-1020 or go online to techjunctioncafe.com.
